CMCFL Round 3: Jurien Bay dominate in fourth to down Lancelin while Dandaragan get on the board over Moora

Jurien Bay downed the new and improved Lancelin Ledge Point side while Dandaragan picked up their first win against Moora in round three of the Central Midlands Coastal Football League.

Reigning premiers Jurien Bay were tested throughout three quarters by the new-look Lancelin side, but a fourth quarter blowout led them to an 18.10 (118) to 11.12 (78) win.

The Bulldogs were coming off their round two win over the Saints in the grand final rematch, but the Pirates proved they are not the pushovers from last year when the side had just two wins.

A six-goal second quarter from Jurien Bay had them up by 27 points at the half-time break, but Lancelin managed to cut the lead to two points in the third term, setting up for a close finish.

However, the Bulldogs reminded the Pirates why they were the champions last year, outscoring the opposition 7.3 to 1.1 in the closing quarter, sealing a 30-point win at home.

Jurien Bay had players share the love on the stat sheet, with 10 individual goal scorers including Curtis Altinier and Jacob Jennings who accounted for four goals each, with three from Austin Britza.

Zachary Hearne and Kade Screaigh each had three goals in the loss.

At Dandaragan town oval, the home side picked up their first points with a 17.16 (118) to 5.8 (38) win over Moora.

A tight first quarter looked promising for Moora who have struggled in recent times, but Dandaragan quickly ran away with the game.

Saints kicked five goals in three of their four quarters while the Mavericks only managed a single quarter with three goals.

Campbell Putland came in big for the Saints with a five-goal haul during the win, complemented by three from Mathew Helms. Brodie Fogarty had two for the Mavericks.

Round four action has Lancelin travelling to face Dandaragan while Moora will host Cervantes and Jurien Bay gets the bye.

Moora grabbed a 6.6 (42) to 3.5 (23) win in the reserves along with Jurien Bay going up 15.12 (102) to 3.3 (21).

In the A-grade netball, Dandaragan defeated Moora 55-15 and Jurien Bay took down Lancelin 56-27.

Jurien Bay got up 3-0 in the hockey over Lancelin and there was a 1-1 tie between Dandaragan and Moora.
