Dandaragan march into the grand final in the CMCFL while Dongara soar into the big dance in the NMFL
Dandaragan have marched their way into the 2025 Central Midlands Coastal Football League grand final after a stunning win over Jurien Bay on Saturday in the preliminary final.
Having only dropped three games in the home-and-away season, Dandaragan went into their clash at home as favourites — but it was Jurien Bay who jumped out to a surprising lead early.
Angus Roberts was Dandaragan’s best player while Zachary Jackson kicked four goals in the contest along with Robert Warrell (three) and Jesse Reinke (two).
The visiting Bulldogs jumped out to a five-point lead at the close of the first term before the Saints got to work on the scoreboard.
Dandaragan piled on four goals in the second term while keeping Jurien Bay goalless, only conceding one goal to the visitors.
The Saints didn’t take a backwards step and with a grand final spot in sight, put the foot down and ran away with the game in the second half.
Dandaragan kicked seven goals in the second half to Jurien Bay’s four, leading the Saints to a preliminary final win at home. The final score was 13.18 (96) to 7.9 (51).
The Saints have now booked their ticket to the big dance against Cervantes on Saturday, September 6 at Moora Recreation Ground, with the first bounce at 2.15pm.
After finishing the season on top of the ladder, the Coorow Latham Magpies have exited the finals in straight sets after their loss to Dongara in the preliminary final in the North Midlands Football League.
The Dongara Eagles soared to a stunning victory against the Magpies on Saturday defeating the minor premiers, 10.13 (73) to 6.11 (47).
There were no best players, no quarter by quarter scores and no goal kickers listed at time of print.
Dongara will now face Morawa in the grand final on Saturday, September 6 at Maley Park Recreation Ground in Coorow with bounce down at 2.30pm.
