The revitalised Dongara Hockey Club has been thrown straight into the deep end, having to play 2018 grand final contenders Carnamah Perenjori in the opening match next month.

It has been at least a decade since Dongara played in the North Midlands Women’s Hockey Association.

Despite pre-season training being well under way, the club is still without a coach.

Meanwhile, Carnamah Perenjori will pull no punches in round 1.

The club will be seeking to start the year on a winning note after a one-point loss in the final bash against Coorow last year.

They will also look to recover from 10 losses last season which landed them fourth on the ladder.

Carnamah Perenjori youngsters, however, will re-enter the junior competition fresh from a highly successful 2018 season with only one loss recorded.

They were by Morawa, who won nine games from 12.

Dongara Hockey Club’s committee is gauging local interest in a junior side to step into the little league this season.

Their senior team will face grand final victor and 2018 ladder-leader Coorow on their home turf on May 11.

Those interested in coaching can contact Dongara Hockey Club via Facebook.
