Geraldton enters week two of filming of Stan production Invisible Boys

Filming for the Stan adaptation of Holden Sheppard’s novel Invisible Boys continues for a second week across Geraldton as crews move their focus to a vacant foreshore block and a shopping centre. A release from the City of Greater Geraldton outlined film crews would be located along Foreshore Drive between Two Foreshore and Dome cafes. A number of carparks and a portion of Lot 601, opposite Champion Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, was set to be closed for filming. On Friday, crews were spotted filming at Geraldton’s Recreation Ground on Augustus Street, as well as the lawn near the Mid West Port Authority offices on Marine Terrace. A casting call out by production staff was seeking under-10’s Rovers football players, as well as adult players, to be featured as extras during scenes filmed at the Rec Ground. Young boys kitted out in black and red Rovers guernseys were seen being dropped at the location on Friday morning. On Monday morning, filming was set to take place along the foreshore and at Northgate Shopping Centre. The centre put up a post on Facebook alerting the public the centre would turn into a film set for the day. A large portion of car spaces were blocked out to make room for crew at the centre. “We couldn’t be prouder to play a part in bringing the magic of filmmaking to our neighbourhood,” Northgate’s post read. The city confirmed Stan production staff would be filming in Geraldton for four weeks, accompanied by large amounts of equipment to shoot the show which follows the story of LGBTQIA teenagers in a regional setting. City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune said the city had been in discussions with the production company and crew for a couple of months about the series which is set in Geraldton. Multiple trucks filled with filming equipment, branded with the Stan logo have been seen at various locations including the Macedonian Club, Sunset Beach and The Ocean Centre Hotel.
