Geraldton police charge accused man caught attempting to break into a home through a dog door

A Geraldton man will remain behind bars after police allege he was caught by a 79-year-old man attempting to break into his house through a dog door wearing a multicoloured balaclava. Geraldton police allege about 11.15pm on Sunday, a 44-year-old man entered the backyard of a house on Eighth Street in Wonthella, and tried to break inside by crawling through the rear dog door. Police allege the man was halfway through the dog door when the resident woke and turned the lights on. The accused went back outside and jumped over the fence and the victim, who was living alone, contacted police. Geraldton Police officer in charge Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said police arrested a man 200m from the address wearing grey-coloured gloves, a blackback pack and dark clothing. Sen. Sgt Martin said he was wearing a multicoloured balaclava which he had allegedly rolled into the shape of a beanie in an attempt to deceive police. Police also allege the man was found in possession of a small bag with less than 1g of a crystal material believed to be methylamphetamine. Hesten Charles Blair Comeagain, 44, appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court from custody on Monday, charged with possession of a disguise, possession of methylamphetamine, possession of housebreaking implement and attempted aggravated burglary with intent. He was remanded in custody until Thursday, October 31.
