Two thumping wins took place over the weekend in the GNWFL with Chapman Valley and Towns taking the points.

Chapman Valley proved to be too strong for Brigades on Saturday at GBSC Sports Park as the Royals’ forwards dined out on a day to forget for the Hawks.

The Valley were a well-oiled machine all over the ground. However, some individual performances provided the Royals with an edge, particularly in the forward line.

Lucinda Rouse kicked five goals in the Valley’s big win with teammates Yasmin Venemore and Ruby Wallace also kicking two goals each.

Keely Svensen was judged best on ground for Brigades. New captain Tira-Li Mason also impressed.

Teagan Brooks was best on ground for the Valley, with Phoebe Ashworth, Eva Campo, Wallace and Rouse also commended for their performances.

Chapman Valley ended up defeating Brigades by 14.13 (97) to 0.1 (1). Chapman Valley will host Railways on Saturday, May 10, while Brigades head into the bye.

Northampton hosted Towns, facing the challenge of taking it to the reigning premiers. After a big win last round for Towns against Rovers, the Bulldogs were looking to continue their hot start to the season with a win over the Rams.

From the start, the strength of the Towns’ midfield was apparent, with captain Olivia Bidwell leading the charge out of the middle with repeated inside-50s. Northampton’s defensive unit was under constant attack.

Bidwell was judged best on ground for Towns with teammates Ashleigh Jones, Holly Baynes, Aaliyah Jones and Emily McAuley also impressing.

Northampton’s best player was Shelby Gavin with Shannon Smith, Kara Elliott, Mikenna Schultz and Gillian Goad also making a valiant effort in the defeat.

The final score was Northampton 0.2 (2) to Towns 9.5 (59). The Rams now prepare to take on Rovers on Saturday, May 10 while the Bulldogs head into the bye.
