Good dose of TLC from TLG
Students at seven Mid West primary schools will receive special one-on-one tuition and mentoring in goal-setting, cyber safety and leadership this month.
Anne-Marie White, who represents the volunteer organisation Teach Learn Grow, said the training aimed to help the children’s soft skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience.
“Volunteers spend a week providing free one-on-one tuition and mentoring to students in various rural and regional schools,” she said.
“Their goal is to help improve the educational outcomes and aspirations of rural and remote students in socio-economic disadvantaged areas so that they can reach their full potential.”
Teach Learn Grow funding manager Cate Leedman said the program ran twice a year.
“The schools getting the program this time will be Mullewa, Morawa, Mount Magnet, Cue, Meekatharra, Yalgoo and Pia Wadjarri,” she said.
The program will run in the last week of November or first week of December, depending on the school’s preference.
