Kurtis Dennis Brennan accused of meth trafficking and attempting to slip bag of meth to prisoner ‘as a treat’

A West End man has been charged after allegedly trafficking meth with a co-accused and later attempting to smuggle a small bag of drugs to an inmate at Greenough Regional Prison. Geraldton Detectives say on Friday, November 23, Kurtis Dennis Brennan, 27, conspired with 43-year-old Lucy Perestrelo from Rangeway to traffic 56g of methylamphetamine from Perth to Geraldton. Detective Senior Sergeant Bruce McDonald said Mr Brennan was charged on Tuesday, November 29 with conspiring to possess a trafficable amount of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply. He was refused bail at his first court appearance the next day, but was later granted bail. Then, Det. Sen-Sgt McDonald alleged Mr Brennan attended Greenough Regional Prison on Sunday, December 4 in a silver Mitsubishi Triton to pick someone up. It is alleged prison officers observed Mr Brennan hiding a small bag in the front of his underwear before being searched. Det. Sen-Sgt McDonald said the alleged bag was eventually removed and seized by prison officers. Detectives allege it contained 6.1g of methylamphetamine. Detectives allege Mr Brennan had taken the drug to give to a friend due to be released from prison “as a treat”. Det. Sen-Sgt McDonald said Mr Brennan allegedly attempted to flee the prison but was arrested a short distance away by police. Mr Brennan was charged with possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell and supply and appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Monday. The 27-year-old was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on January 16. Det. Sen-Sgt McDonald said Ms Perestrelo was stopped and searched on Wednesday, November 23 about 11.30pm on Indian Ocean Drive in Wilbinga when 56g of methylamphetamine, 15 tablets of MDMA and 56g of cannabis were allegedly located inside her vehicle. The 43-year-old was charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply. She was eventually bailed and will re-appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on January 9.
