Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma are another step closer to their goal of promotion following a scrappy 2-0 win over Cracovia SC at Salvatore Sciuto Stadium on Saturday night.

The victory puts them up to equal third on the State Amateur League table, level with MUM FC on 19 points.

After 10 games, the Reds are currently five points off top of the table Perth AFC.

In an even first half, both sides struggled to create chances with the score locked at 0-0.

Five minutes into the second half the game sprung into life as Al Mupotaringa played the ball to Wiehan de Bruyn who found Red’s captain Lachlan Gray on the edge of the box, giving his side the lead with a thunderous strike into the left-hand corner.

Cracovia pushed for an equaliser, piling pressure on the La Fiamma defence who managed to hold firm.

Centre-attacking-midfielder Kumbi Dzoma then produced a bit of magic for the Reds, beating his man before firing past the Cracovia goalkeeper to put them 2-0 up at the 75-minute mark.

As the clock ticked down, Armani Liswaniso had the chance to make it 3-0 when he rounded the keeper but was unable to convert from a tight angle.

La Fiamma will now hit the road this weekend to face Forrestfield United FC.

It’s the first time in a decade the State League side have been involved in a promotion battle and they will be hoping to push on in the second half of the season.

La Fiamma reserves went down 4-1 to Cracovia SC in the curtain raiser.
