Murchison’s Wooleen Station wins back-to back gold medals at WA Tourism Awards

Mid West, Murchison and Gascoyne tourism operators have been recognised as among the best in the State at the 2025 WA Tourism Awards last weekend.
The awards night at Crown Perth showcases innovation and a commitment to business excellence from leading tourism operators in WA across 26 categories with gold medallists to represent WA at the Australian Tourism Awards in Fremantle in March 2026.
Outback nature-based stay Wooleen Station in the Murchison will get that chance with a gold medal win for the hosted accommodation category, while also taking home a bronze medal for ecotourism.
Situated on a 200,000ha cattle station — with its own airstrip — 200km north-east of Mullewa, Wooleen offers guests a National Trust-listed homestead, rammed earth guesthouse or camping area where you can roll out your swag under the Milky Way.
“All entrants in the 2025 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards have shown remarkable dedication to making WA a vibrant and inclusive destination for visitors,” Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said. “Tonight’s winners faced outstanding competition from across the industry and can proudly claim their place among the very best.”
Exmouth’s Bullara Station Stay, also a working cattle farm and host to French-inspired long table dinner at this year’s Gascoyne Food Festival, took silver for both the unique accommodation and excellence in food tourism categories.
The Lobster Shack in Cervantes — a must-stop on any Indian Ocean Drive tourist journey – won the bronze for major tourist attractions and excellence in food tourism, with its seafood menu and enviable location overlooking the Turquoise Coast.
The Sir David Brand Award for Tourism was presented to the Kimberley’s Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm with WA Museum Boola Bardip, Singlefile Wines and Pullman Bunker Bay Resort joining them in the hall of fame after winning gold for three consecutive years.
Wooleen Station will achieve hall of fame status if it wins gold at next year’s awards.
