North Midlands Football League: Mingenew down Coorow Latham while Carnamah Perenjori squeak past Morawa

The Mingenew Bulldogs have maintained their lead at the the top of the North Midlands Football League following a 7.5 (47) to 5.7 (37) victory over Coorow Latham. In a tight opening quarter the Magpies found themselves early leaders 2.2 (14) to 1.0 (6) but three goals in the second term saw the Bulldogs lead at the half 4.2 (26) to 3.5 (23). From there Mingenew managed to keep the Pies at arms length, Patrick Flanders starred with three goals with Brayden Hoskins and Jack Greaves also kicking two apiece. Jacque Lambert ran hard for Coorow while Matthew Burley and Jacob Comley had two goals each but it wasn’t enough as they went down by 10 points. Morowa let Carnamah Perenjori off the hook with some woeful accuracy as the Kangaroos squeaked home 6.7 (43) to 5.10 (40). With one point separating the teams at half-time the game was there to be won in the third quarter and Morowa dominated but only managed to take a two-point lead into the last term. They kicked 2.5 for the quarter and didn’t get much better, going 1.4 in the final term allowing the Roos to run over the top them in the to escape with the victory. Keiren Simpson had three for Perenjori. Marley Fraser kicked three for Morowa along with two for Travis Doust, but they will be disappointed letting that game slip. Dongara easily accounted for the winless Three Springs leading at every break to win 12.12 (84) to 7.3 (45). Roland Drummon kicked four to keep them locked in a three-way battle for third place with Morawa and Coorow Latham all on 12 points.
