Shire of Shark Bay receives $20,000 housing subsidy to attract early childhood workers

Shark Bay has received a share of more than $250,000 to boost early childhood workers in the region. The move is part of a Statewide program aimed at attracting and retaining families to the regions. As part of the Attraction and Retention Packages for Regional Childcare Workers program, the Shire of Shark Bay will receive $20,798 in State Government funding for a housing subsidy program. The aim is to support the demand for childcare in regional WA and encourage families to live and work in the regions, contributing to a stronger economy. A total of $781,066 has been delivered to 23 regional local government authorities across WA across three funding rounds. Early Childhood Education Minister Sabine Winton said it was important that all West Australians have access to early childhood education and care. “We know that access to quality early childhood education and care is vital to meeting the needs of young children and families in regional communities,” she said. “It also plays an important role in regional economies, enabling parents to return to work and supporting the operation of regional businesses. “These grants to attract and retain early childhood educators will ensure more young children have the best possible start to life.”
