Variety to host cocktail night at Fisherman's Wharf to raise funds to support local kids

Children’s charity Variety will be hosting a one-of-a-kind cocktail party on a jetty at Fisherman’s Wharf next Saturday to help raise funds for vulnerable kids. A glamorous occasion for a good cause, the theme for the party is black and white — hosting up to 200 guests in cocktail attire. Variety WA CEO Chris Chatterton said its events have gone through an evolution in 2024. “We have been looking at different events to delight and engage our supporters and this innovative new offering from Variety Midwest is truly going to be a growing event to offer our incredible Mid West people,” he said. Refreshments and canapes will be on offer, with entertainment provided by the Royal Australian Navy Band. All proceeds raised from the event will be put back into the community, going towards local kids for education support, scholarships, extracurricular events and community grants. The event has been supported by local businesses offering helping hands through sponsorships, including Fairfax Farm and Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative. Variety Mid West co-ordinator Jan Ajduk said the event was an exclusive opportunity. “We’ve never hosted an event like this, and tickets have been selling very quickly,” she said. Tickets for the Saturday, March 16 event can be purchased for $150 by contacting the Variety Mid West Geraldton office.
