Wonthella Skate Park hosts latest leg of community-run skateboard competition, the Revolve Skate Series

Geraldton’s Wonthella Skate Park came alive on Sunday with the sound of wheels on concrete, high-fives, and cheers as the Revolve Skate Series hit town for its latest leg. Now recognised as WA’s biggest community-run skateboard competition, the series has grown since its humble beginnings in 2021, attracting riders from Exmouth to Margaret River across its three-location circuit. Infinity Skate founder and event organiser Nick Austin reflected on the journey of the event, saying it “continually surpass(es) what I thought possible.” “They are a testament to the dedication of the young people, their families, the community, sponsors and event organisers,” he said. With a stacked program spanning street, park and bowl disciplines, the Wonthella event saw some standout performances, particularly from Kalbarri’s Levi Greaves, who dominated the 12 and under category. Greaves claimed a golden trifecta, topping all three disciplines to rocket to the top of the leaderboard. He laid down consistent, technical runs with confidence well beyond his years. Close behind was Geraldton’s own Oliver Todd, who wasn’t far off the pace and matched Greaves medal-for-medal, albeit in silver. “Three silvers, sore legs, and a smile that’ll last for days,” Austin said with a grin. The eight and under division saw Sunny Sharpe sweep both park and bowl, along with a silver in street, proving that pint-sized power and fearless skating go hand-in-hand. Another three-gold performance came from Scarlett Harrington, who owned the girls division across all formats. She and her sister Opal, skating for Maple Rd Skateboards, made a strong impression and helped lift the profile of female skating in the Mid West. In the open divisions, seasoned street skater Digby Gallop took the win in open street, while Zen and Vai Evans claimed top spots in park and bowl respectively, showcasing style and precision against tough competition. With the final event set for Jurien Bay on May 25, the race for the series crown is heating up. “It’s going to be exciting to see if a regional skater can claim the season championship,” Austin said.
