Boddington Police asking for information after crashed ute was ransacked, with more than $32k of tools stolen

Police are investigating after more than $32,000 worth of tools were stolen from a crashed car on Albany Highway near Boddington last month, with the vehicle ransacked while the driver was recovering in hospital.

At about 5.55 am on October 14, a grey 2022 Mitsubishi Triton was involved in a car crash on Albany Highway near Summer Track in Mount Wells.

The ute remained at the scene while the injured driver was taken to hospital.

Sometime between the morning of October 14 and 9am on October 16, while the driver recovered in hospital, his vehicle was ransacked.

The thieves stole a number of items from the car, including ladders, work tools, two drill batteries labelled with the owner’s initials in permanent marker and several distinctive red-handled, two-tone dark and lighter grey collapsible crates.

The equipment is valued at more than $32,000.
