After an initial coaching session run by Kelly Dominiak from Netball WA that gave coaches an opportunity to teach players new skills and drills, a full day of netball kicked off.

The carnival was also attended by three NDNA Green Shirt representatives.

The Green Shirt program is for umpires of all ages. It aims to develop and train beginner umpires and is designed to help associations retain, value and develop umpires.

Alex Hodges from Netball WA ran through a few basics before the umpires began their day.

Assisted by coaches, the umpires learnt new techniques and knowledge as they gained experience.

As the carnival promotes participation, there were no winners on the day, but awards were given for sportsmanship, most improved umpires, best hair, and best dressed.

NDNA’s Ashlynn Hardie received one of the most improved umpire awards, and Waves Netball Club were named best dressed.
