It was a busy day of sport in Pingelly on Saturday, with Narrogin and Districts Netball Association junior games on court before the A1 game in the afternoon.

It was the shortest day of the calendar year and it was probably the coldest as well.

It’s days like these we are glad that as netballers we get to play inside on dry courts.

The JD3 game was a see-sawing battle with Williams just edging out Pingelly in the final quarter to win 15-12.

It is always encouraging to see the junior development in the association and know that NDNA have some up-and-coming netball stars.

There was still a good crowd for the A1 game at 2pm.

Despite the scoreboard margin, it was a spirited and competitive match between Pingelly 1 and Williams 1, with both teams playing in great spirit and demonstrating solid skill and sportsmanship across four quarters.

Williams came out with strong momentum and a fast-paced start, building a comfortable lead early in the game, with their young shooter Bella Logie moving well within the circle and shooting with precision.

But Pingelly responded with grit and determination, settling into their rhythm and producing some strong passages of play and good work in the circle, showing great movement and accuracy under pressure from the strong Williams defensive line.

Throughout the game, Williams were able to rotate their line-ups throughout the full court and Pingelly were resilient and worked tirelessly to disrupt the flow.

Kaitlyn Hoy played a great game at wing defence and it was a great battle watching both her and Alex Hodges battle it out through the mid-court, with both showcasing sharp timing and composure for their teams.

Defensively, Pingelly put up a solid fight up against a formidable Williams team and while they might not have taken the win, the Pingelly team had small goals to work towards and in this year of development can be proud of what they are achieving.

The final scoreline with Williams taking a 43-goal win 78-35 did not reflect the full effort and competitiveness on court.

The game was played in good spirits and enjoyed by a strong local crowd who braved the chilly weather to support both the netball and football teams at home in Pingelly.

Best players were Logie, Hoy and Talicia Bennell.
