Wickepin Primary School library officer Linley Rose celebrates as WASBPA Allied Professional Award finalist

A Wickepin Primary School library officer, referred to by colleagues as the “heart” of the school, has been recognised as a State finalist in an awards ceremony honouring public school corporate staff. Linley Rose was one of three finalists up for the Allied Professional Award at the 2025 WA School Business Professionals’ Association Inc. awards dinner at WASBPA Dandjoo Conference on October 30. Ms Rose said she felt very honoured to be nominated and was both surprised and humbled when announced as a finalist. “Thank you to the special people who generously gave their time to nominate me for this award,” she said. Serving as a library officer for more than three decades, Ms Rose’s role includes cataloguing classroom resources, improving accessibility and efficiency for staff, library lessons, mentoring students and staff, and school decision-making as a member of the finance committee. She said her favourite part of her job is instilling a love for reading in her students, building relationships with them and the parents, working with staff and stepping up in new roles to assist the school. She was nominated by WPS’s manager corporate services Jill Norwell, who regarded Ms Rose as “the heart of Wickepin Primary School” and “a cornerstone of its learning culture”. “Linley is a quiet leader whose impact is felt in every corner of the school,” Ms Norwell wrote. “She has been formally recognised with the school’s Above and Beyond award, but her true legacy is written in the lives of the students she has inspired, the staff she has supported, and the community she has served. “In a small Wheatbelt school, Linley Rose has made a big difference.”
