A 29-year-old woman has died following a serious workplace incident inside a towing yard in Perth’s northern suburbs, police have confirmed.

Emergency crews attended the scene near Sundercombe Street and Collingwood Street in Osborne Park, where an incident was reported to police on Tuesday about 5.40am.

A rescue operation followed with crews from DFES and St John Ambulance conducting first-aid, but the woman could not be saved, and she died at the scene.

Witnesses describe seeing people congregating near a damaged car in the towing yard afterwards.

A man who identified himself as the woman’s brother was distraught at the scene, with people seen comforting each other at the site’s entrance throughout the morning.

A white car with significant damage believed to be connected to the incident, was seen on the back of a partially tipped tow truck held in place by straps in the towing yard of Autotow Services.

WorkSafe investigators entered the yard at about 8.45am after being notified of the incident by police and were seen speaking with witnesses.

A coroner’s vehicle was seen reversing into the towing yard just after 9am, with police preparing a report for the coroner.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be confirmed prompting WorkSafe to launch an investigation.

WorkSafe has been contacted for further comment.
