Lotto luck has struck for a Perth couple who thought they’d turned missing words into a $20 scratchie win. But their joy soon turned into a $75,000 surprise.

The Beckenham couple failed to notice their $5 Super Word Play ticket, from Thornlie Square Newspower, had more words than they thought.

“We were happy we won $20,” the winner said.

“The retailer took me out the back, I thought I had done something wrong, but he told me I had won $75,000.

“My knees were shaking.”

The win follows a stellar week for WA, with three Division One winning tickets, each worth $1.8 million, sold in last Saturday’s Superdraw.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said attention has now turned to this weekend’s special $10 million Saturday Lotto event.

“The Division One prize pool has been doubled from an estimated $5 million for this special event,” she said.

“Let’s hope our State’s tally of Division One winners for the year, already at 29, grows even higher following the draw.”
