Police seize large amount of Lego as part of $27m money laundering bust
Police have seized tens of thousands of dollars worth of Lego as part of a probe into an alleged $27m money laundering operation.
Monash crime investigation unit detectives raided homes in Nunawading and Glen Waverley, in Melbourne’s east, on Wednesday as part of an 18-month investigation into the operation.
Detectives seized a large amount of property at the addresses, including more than $100,000 worth of Lego and electronics.
A police spokesperson said the property seized was suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
Three people were arrested during the raids, including a 37-year-old Nunawading man who was charged with negligently deal with proceeds of crime.
Police also charged a 42-year-old Glen Waverley man with theft.
The spokesperson said more charges were expected to be laid in the coming weeks.
The pair have been bailed to face Ringwood Magistrates Court on April 1 next year.
A 41-year-old woman was released without charge.
