A man with disabilities has been found safe in the early hours of Monday morning after he disappeared from his Hammond Park home on Friday.

Hammond Park locals were urged to search their front and back yards for Aoto Konagai, 30, who went missing about 6pm on May 2 at a home on Barfield Road in Hammond Park.

Mr Konagai was found safe and well around 1.40am on Monday near Sussetta Approach in Success after a person reported a suspected sighting to police.

WA police thanked the community for their support and assistance in finding Mr Konagai.

On Sunday, Fremantle district Inspector Steve Scott said Mr Konagai would be “cold and frightened”.

About 30 to 40 SES crews and police officers searched the area near where Mr Konagai lives on Saturday, and police were continuing to knock on doors on Sunday.

Before Mr Konagai was found police urged locals to search their properties, especially their front and backyards.

“Especially those with larger properties, please go out and have a look for us,” Inspector Scott said.

“You know, it’s been very cold, we’ve had some rain.

“He was not wearing suitable clothing for these weather conditions, so please have a look.

“He’s probably quite frightened and if you can check your backyards, your frontyards, that would be greatly appreciated.”

Ins. Scott said the search area included pockets of bush and was “quite large”.
