Police hunt missing gold necklace allegedly stolen from woman’s neck during alleged Armadale burglary

A 33-year-old man has been charged over a violent home invasion in which he allegedly struck a woman across the head with a glass bottle before stealing a necklace from her neck. Police say the man entered the property in Armadale about 11.15am on August 31 and stole possessions before he was confronted by the female occupant. “It will be further alleged; the man threatened the victim before striking her across the head with a glass bottle, and causing a deep laceration to her arm,” a police spokesman said. “As the victim was recovering from the strike, the man forcibly removed a gold necklace from her neck before indecently assaulting her.” The victim escaped the home and alerted neighbours, who immediately called police. The man fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police arrested the man last week, charging him with aggravated burglary, aggravated armed robbery, deprivation of liberty and aggravated indecent assault in the course of a home burglary. He was remanded in custody to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on October 20. Detectives are seeking the whereabouts of the stolen gold necklace which is still missing.
