The Federal and State Governments have poured more than $15 million into the Murchison region to fund youth outreach, domestic violence and homeless services since 2016.

According to the Department of Communities, the Murchison region spans Geraldton, Meekatharra and Carnarvon and includes services such as Desert Blue Connect and Short Term Accommodation for Youth.

Funding from both government levels has remained relatively consistent in the past four years, with both giving Murchison services more than $1.9 million each this financial year.

In total, the State has funnelled more than $46 million into the WA Department of Communities Department network for 2019-2020, while the Commonwealth has handed over more than $44 million.
