Geraldton detectives arrest 13yo girl over two robberies at Woolworths Seacrest and Burswood

A 13-year-old was remanded to Banksia Hill Detention Centre ahead of sentencing after she pleaded guilty to two violent robberies in Geraldton and Burswood and spitting in a police officer’s face. The teenager admitted to kicking a Woolworths Seacrest store manager in the leg while attempting to steal $70 of groceries at the shopping centre on Monday afternoon. Acting Det. Sen. Sgt Simon Harrison said the 13-year-old also pleaded guilty to a Burswood train station mobbing on Monday, June 5 where a 13-year-old victim was approached by about eight people, including the offender. Det. Sen. Sgt Harrison said a male suspect wrapped his arm around the young victim and removed her backpack, while the 13-year-old offender kicked and punched the victim, removed a neck chain and other jewellery from the girls body, and left her “crying in pain”. The 13-year-old girl was arrested by Geraldton detectives at a Utakarra address. Det. Sen. Sgt Harrison said the girl was in a “state of rage”, yelling and swearing at police. He said as the girl was escorted into the police pod, she spat in the face of a detective. The 13-year-old girl was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, stealing, assault public officer and disorderly behaviour. She appeared in Geraldton Children’s Court on Tuesday and was transferred to Banksia Hill Detention Centre on Wednesday. She is remanded in custody until she appears in Geraldton Children’s Court for sentencing on September 11 by video link.
