Flights in and out of Kalgoorlie were halted due to heavy fog in the regional centre on Monday morning.
Aircraft due to land at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport had to be diverted because of heavy fog conditions, acting CEO Lui Camporeale confirmed.
There were no flights leaving the airport and none were able to land for several hours throughout the morning.
Mr Camporeale said rescheduling was a matter for individual airline carriers “following ongoing advice from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM)“.
“Passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for the latest scheduling updates and information,” he added.
About three or four flights were diverted, one to Leonora and the others were turned back to Perth.
By early afternoon, the airport had returned to regular operations.
“Flights have recommenced and passengers are encouraged to contact their carrier for scheduling updates,” a spokesperson said.
