Manjimup police are calling for assistance after a reckless driving incident caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to roadworks on Graphite Road at the weekend.

Police allege an unknown driver drove through roadworks between Finch and Richmond streets sometime between 10pm on Saturday July 11, and 6am on Sunday July 12.

Police said the vehicle struck and damaged more than 100 road cones, damaged the newly constructed road surface and then entered a nearby farm, where numerous burnouts were performed.

Manjimup Police Station officer in charge Sergeant Tyler Winter said the damage bill was expected to run into the thousands.

“The damage is expected to amount to thousands of dollars, with repair costs ultimately being borne by ratepayers within the Shire of Manjimup,” he said.

“Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, has information relating to the incident, or has CCTV or dashcam footage from the relevant timeframe is encouraged to contact police.”

Anyone with information can contact Manjimup police on 9771 9100, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or make a report online via Crime Stoppers WA.
