Mullewa Agricultural Show packed with activities for all ages, with Gift and sheep shearing the main winners

Mullewa was packed full of adventure for all ages over the weekend, with plenty of worthy exhibition entries and competition winners at the 2022 agricultural show. More than 1400 tickets were sold at the Mullewa District Agricultural Show, which despite being a good turnout was down from previous years. The children had Bubbly’s Bubble Show draining their energy as they ran around the oval chasing giant bubbles. Along with plenty of sporting activities, bouncy castles and food stalls it kept the smiles on the faces of those at the Mullewa Recreational Grounds all day. The Mullewa quick shear competition in the late afternoon was a hit with the adults, with Dongara shearer Koen Black winning the $2000 first prize, shearing a big sheep in 32.75 seconds. Josh Hook won the Mullewa Gift race and took home $2500. Mullewa District Agricultural Society president Tim Critch said the show had great numbers this year despite some rain towards the end of the day, with the line-up of machinery this year drawing in the crowd. “It was a successful day, we had a little bit of rain but otherwise it was sunny and a good crowd showed up,” he said. “There were good numbers in the exhibition, the sheep shearing competition went well and it was good to see some ex-local runners. The girls that go to school in Geraldton did really well in the race.”
