Mullewa and Pindar welcome a new fire truck helping to protect the community from bushfires

COVID delays threw a spanner in the works when a state-of-the-art fire truck was approved for Mullewa and Pindar in the 2020-21 Federal Budget. Fast forward to now, and the new truck has only just arrived. It was a long wait, but will help protect the community for many years to come. The new fire truck, built by Frontline Fire & Rescue Equipment, is valued at $470,000. Supplied to the City of Greater Geraldton by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services under the Emergency Services Levy Local Government Grant Scheme, it will be ready for the Mullewa-South Bushfire Brigade to start using in a few weeks time. Mayor Shane Van Styn said he was impressed with the fire truck and was looking forward to increased safety. “This vehicle destined for the Mullewa-Pindar area has all the bells and whistles, and is sure to help keep the community safe in the drier months when bushfires usually spark,” he said. “It’s certainly taken awhile for it to arrive, and we’re glad to add it to our fleet and increase emergency management resources in the region. “Our local bushfire brigade volunteers work extremely hard to keep everyone safe and no doubt this new asset will make life easier.”
