Northampton’s women’s coach has sent a strong message after the side got another big result over the weekend — they’re hoping to go undefeated from here.

Josh Wilson said winning the rest of the matches should “most certainly” be achievable after his team beat reigning back-to-back premiers Brigades away on Saturday with six players injured, 6.8 (44) to 1.2 (8).

“We’d like to finish the season off with a win in every game,” Wilson said. “We’ve got a really good bunch of players and I think it’s very achievable.

“We need to keep the level of fitness that the players have got already and work on their skills from here on in. We’ve got a good solid squad and were able to work with our injuries, although it would be nice to have all of the players on the park.”

He tipped Chapman Valley, Towns and Brigades to make up the rest of the top four.

The Rams moved level with Chapman Valley on points but remain behind on percentage.

Chapman Valley was out for a bye, although the Royals’ dominance on the scoresheet was enough to keep them top. Abbey Benham was Northampton’s best, while Katie Croston was top scorer with two goals.

Mullewa beat Rovers in Saturday’s other game, 7.4 (46) to 3.1 (19).

Railways had a win on Sunday to keep them in contention, beating Towns, 5.7 (37) to 3.3 (21).

Brigades are in third, 12 points behind the leaders.

Towns are another four points back in fourth and ahead of Railways on percentage.

Northampton play Mullewa next round and will expect to win against the league’s newest side.

Valley play Railways, and Towns face Brigades.
