Buy West Eat Best have launched their Plating Up WA campaign, encouraging diners to get out during winter and support local hospitality venues.

For the duration of June, more than 40 venues in the State will be serving up dishes featuring the best of WA ingredients.

Diners in the Mid West can jump in on the action at Skeetas Restaurant with the featured dish being oven baked western rock lobster with citrus butter.

Finlay’s in Kalbarri is featuring their honey-braised and charred Abrolhos Island Octopus with coriander, sweet soy and Asian salad.

Venues from the South West, Southern Forests, Perth, Swan Valley and Goldfields-Esperance region are featured in the campaign initiated by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

The campaign began as a means to support the hospitality industry during the quiet winter months, and support the community by encouraging them to get out of the house with good company and great food.

Deborah Pett, manager of food industry development said: “We know that winter can be a tough time for food service and hospitality businesses.”

WA’s food and beverage manufacturing industry is valued at $8 billion, with more than 1300 food and beverage businesses across the State.

Ms Prett added: “By supporting local restaurants and the wider food industry, the campaign aims to help boost the local economy and support jobs in the industry.”

All dishes are made using locally sourced ingredients, bolstering a healthier, more sustainable food system in WA.
