Geraldton police dog Bucky was hot on the trail of an alleged burglar yesterday, successfully tracking a man after an alleged robbery in Mahomets Flats.

Police were alerted to an alleged burglary just after midnight on Tuesday when a woman returned home to her property on Roebuck Street and noticed a man running from her house.

Police attended the incident alongside PD Bucky who identified a scent heading south.

Police said Bucky tracked the scent, heading south on to Brand Highway and into bushland.

A 33-year-old male from Geraldton was located and taken into custody a short time later.

It’s alleged the man was also involved in a number of other burglaries in the Geraldton area between November 2016 and January 2017.

He has been charged with four counts of stealing, three counts of home burglary with intent, burglary and commit and trespassing.

He was due to appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
