RAC Rescue chopper called off for Cataby crash after Moora volunteers free 88-year-old, 34yo taken to Perth

A truck driver involved in a Brand Highway crash on Thursday later drove himself to Perth for further medical treatment while the other elderly male driver has been discharged from hospital. The 34-year-old truck driver is stable but still in hospital after the crash in Cataby about 12.55pm. Police say a Toyota Landcruiser towing a caravan travelling north and a red Volvo prime mover with two trailers travelling south on Brand Highway collided, causing the caravan to roll. The 88-year-old man driving the Landcruiser was trapped inside and had to be extricated. Department of Fire and Emergency Services confirmed crews from Moora Volunteer Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene at 1.30pm and freed the man after about half an hour. An RAC Rescue helicopter was deployed but not required. Both men were taken to Moora Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Inquiries are ongoing with Jurien Bay police.
