The league leaders hung on in Geraldton football over the weekend, as Railways stayed two points ahead of Brigades and four points above Rovers with a convincing win over Towns on Sunday.

Jesse Adamini topped the goal scorers — with seven majors — and best list for the Blues as they downed a Bulldogs side that is in a rebuilding phase and unlikely to challenge the top four this season, 22.12 (144) to 5.1 (31), at home.

Mitch Boyle was also a stand-out while Elliot Delaney added six goals alongside Adamini’s seven, and Jack Cocking got three.

Rohan Farriss was Towns’ best while Stuart Gaby made the scoresheet with his 14th goal of the season.

The result followed a win for Rovers against Mullewa on Saturday, with Justin Crudeli kicking six goals and Joseph Ugle Rovers’ best as the Demons beat the Saints, 22.19 (151) to 7.2 (44), away.

Calvin Wall was the Saints’ best.

It was a second win on the trot for Rovers, who are back-to-back defending premiers, but not enough to take them back to second place, as Brigades turned Northampton over at home, 14.12 (96) to 10.8 (68).

The Hawks have streaked into top-two contention after they beat Northampton in round five to go on a winning streak that is still intact seven rounds later. In the women’s, Northampton moved level with Chapman Valley on points but remain behind on percentage.

The Rams won 6.8 (44) to 1.2 (8) away at Brigades on Saturday, with Chapman Valley out for a bye, although the Royals’ dominance on the scoresheet was enough to keep them top.

Abbey Benham was Northampton’s best, while Katie Croston was top scorer with two goals.

Railways had a win on Sunday to keep them in contention, beating Towns, 5.7 (37) to 3.3 (21).

Brigades are in third, 12 points behind the leaders, while Towns are another four points back in fourth and ahead of Railways on percentage.
