Wanderers vs Towns final could be cliffhanger in Geraldton men’s T20 cricket
There could be a cliffhanger in men’s cricket on Friday night, with a much-improved Wanderers side looking to topple Towns in the T20 final.
The short-form big dance will be the pick of the weekend’s Geraldton Bendigo Bank Cricket League men’s action, with both sides evenly balanced. The game starts at 6pm.
Wanderers are much better with the addition of all-rounder Clayton Bruce-Cherry. Both sides now have 3-1 records in the series.
Towns have guns in their side such as Jai Russell, Kodi Giltrow, Brady Collins, Sam Crouch and Tom Forsyth.
With Bruce-Cherry, Shayne Bidwell, Gus Heberle, Jason Partington and Digby Gallop, Wanderers are nothing to sneeze at and the game could go either way.
There is another critical game on Saturday as Bluff Point take on Chapman Valley-Northampton at Muir Park.
The Pointers have a tenuous hold in the top three and captain Brendan Millar knows how important a win would be.
“A must-win game; do that and then see how we go in the last round against Towns,” Millar said.
“If we make the semi and field a full-strength side, anything is possible but we have to beat the Valley Rams and then what happens happens,” he said.
In the other game, Towns and Wanderers play what could be a grand final preview at the Rec.
Sportsmans has their bye and will hope CVN win tomorrow as that will improve their odds of making the finals. A Pointers win would make the task harder.
B-grade: Wan v Twn (GBSC1); Don v BP (Dongara); Spo v CVN (Nabawa).
