Man charged over boy’s death

A Geraldton man has been charged in relation to a fatal crash in Wonthella earlier this year which claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy.

Major Crash investigators allege the man, who was aged 17 at the time, was riding a Honda CBR motorcycle along North West Coastal Highway on Tuesday, January 24, which collided with a Jeep Cherokee.

A 14-year-old Spalding boy, who was a pillion passenger on the motorcycle, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Geraldton Hospital where he later died.

The 18-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, driving under the influence of drugs and no authority to drive.

He is due to appear before the Geraldton Children’s Court on June 13.
