A cold front approaching from the South West is expected to cross the region overnight, bringing damaging winds, heavy rainfall and a chance of flash flooding to Albany, Bunbury, Katanning, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker, Narrogin and Northam.

Strong winds between 60 and 70km/h, with peak gusts of around 90km/h are expected, with warnings homes and property could be damaged.

Thunderstorms are likely to occur on the frontal boundary, which is expected to cross the South West Capes around sunrise, moving northward reach Mandurah by late morning.

Showers and thunderstorms may bring heavy rain from Bunbury to Windy Harbour.

Gusty conditions will continue across the South West throughout the day.

The wet and windy weather will also reach Perth on Monday, with showers expected throughout the day with a chance of thunderstorms.

The temperature will reach a maximum of 22. An early storm is also expected on Tuesday morning, with a maximum top of 20.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services is urging residents to prepare their properties for the storm.

“This weather is typical of a winter-time cold front, but is occurring unseasonably late in the year,” a statement said.
