Police are urging witnesses to a Giblett Street ram raid to come forward to help identify the perpetrators of the reckless act.

About 5am on Sunday, May 15 an unknown number of offenders drove a vehicle into the front of the Manjimup Motors shop front, breaking through the glass windows and damaging stock at the entrance of the store.

The thieves then stole three chainsaws, with a combined value of $6000.

No one was injured during the incident, however, damage to the store has been estimated at about $3000.

Police believe the offenders used a white Toyota Landcruiser with a black tray to smash into the store.

South West District Superintendent Geoff Stewart said police were seeking any further CCTV or dash cam footage people may have recorded, which he believes could help identify the offenders.

He also issued a stern warning to the offenders, saying the tight-knit community would not tolerate this.

“This community, any community cannot afford to let criminals think they can move about without fear of detection or being reported,” Supt Stewart said.

“We’ve had success in the past identifying and apprehending offenders. We can do it again with the help of the community.”

Manjimup Motors staff posted an image of the destruction caused during the ram raid to their social media, commenting “We are closed for the day due to a ram raid on the front of the shop,” in the post.

The store reopened on Monday, May 16 following temporary repairs to the shop front.
