Festival films to light up screen at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre this Winter

Movie buffs will have the chance to immerse themselves in a unique selection of international films this winter at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

BREC has launched its International Film Festival Winter 2021 program, featuring 11 films from across the globe on offer to viewers from July 8 to 25.

This year’s curated program showcases films in French, Italian, Persian, Romanian, Swedish, Maori, Spanish and even the language of animals.

Among some of the featured movies are My Name is Gulpilil, which tells the story of Australian cinematic star David Gulpilil; Sound of Metal, which explores the life of a heavy metal drummer who is losing his hearing; The Wedding Speech, a French arthouse comedy; and Gunda, a Norwegian black and white documentary featuring a pig, two cows and a one-legged chicken.

Cinema lovers will also have the chance to expand their experience at the Festival Hub, offering up a selection of the South West’s finest musicians and festival food, along with the return of the Conversation Club, where viewers can engage in discussions about some of the curated films.

BREC executive director Fiona de Garis said it was a “great joy” to bring the 11 featured films to the winter program.

“Be brave and choose one you’re not sure about along with the ones you can’t wait to see,” she said.

“There are so many films I can’t wait to see. Let the festival begin.”
