The Great Dunny Hunt returns as the public are urged to find ‘secret toilets’ to add to national toilet map

The competition to find Australia’s best porcelain throne has made its triumphant return. South West residents can participate in the Great Dunny Hunt, a project run by Continence Health Australia aiming to find the region’s missing public toilets and add them to a national map, in support of Australians affected by incontinence. Continence Health Australia chief executive Jim Cooper said thousands of public toilets across the country remain unaccounted for on the National Public Toilet Map. “These toilets are essential for many Australians, particularly those managing continence issues,” he said. This year’s hunt began on Monday, April 14, and runs until Sunday, May, 11 in a bid to raise awareness and encourage conversations about bladder and bowel health. The purpose of the Dunny Hunt is to support the 7.2 million Australians affected by incontinence, of whom 49 per cent don’t feel comfortable embarking on long trips without knowing where the first toilet stop will be. “There are commercial businesses like transport companies, service station and convenience chains, and shopping centres that have public toilets, and many may be missing from our map,” Mr Cooper said. “We are asking businesses as well as individuals to share their knowledge and help us update the map.” Dunny hunters can upload their submissions directly to the national public toilet map and include information about cleanliness, accessibility and whether there are facilities such as showers and changing rooms. All participants will go into a draw with the chance to win one of three $500 EFTPOS vouchers.
