A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car in Coodanup near Mandurah

A young man was killed in an early morning crash in the Mandurah suburb of Coodanup on Sunday.

The tragedy unfolded on Pinjarra Road at 5.15am when a silver Nissan X-trail SUV and a dark-coloured Honda motorcycle collided at the Ranceby Avenue intersection.

The 21-year-old motorbike rider suffered catastrophic injuries. He was taken by St John Ambulance to Peel Health Campus but died.

The 84-year-old man driving the Nissan SUV was also hospitalised. he had only minor injuries.

Major Crash officers investigating the incident are urging anyone with information about the crash, who has relevant dash-cam or mobile phone vision, or who saw either of the vehicles involved before 5.15am to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
