Residents across Perth have awoken on Sunday morning to find a heavy fog is blanketing the city.
The CBD and Perth’s northern suburbs have received the worst of the eerie conditions, with major roads like the Mitchell Freeway coated in a thick haze.
Senior Bureau meteorologist Luke Huntington told PerthNow the fog should be lifted by mid morning.
“Clear skies and light winds overnight allowed the temperature to cool down and reach saturation point, which is when we see fog like this,” he said.

“It is mainly contained to the northern suburbs.”.
The misty conditions have prompted Main Roads to issue an urgent warning to motorists braving the roads this morning.
Along with the fog, a smoke warning has also been issued for metro Perth, as a direct result of prescribed burns.
Residents are being advised to shut doors and windows, with the smoke expected to clear in the afternoon.
Due to reduced visibility, drivers are urged to switch their headlights on and ensure they keep a safe breaking distance.
Anyone travelling on the roads is also encouraged to drive with caution and consider allowing extra travel time.
Monday will bring showers and windy conditions to most of Perth, with a high of 20 degrees.
