Perth traffic: Woman dead, six hospitalised after horror crash on Roe Highway in Parkwood

A woman has died and six people — including five children — have been taken to hospital after a horror crash between two cars in Parkwood early this morning.

A silver Ford Focus and a grey Ford Territory collided about 5.10am sending both careening down a ditch and one of the vehicles into a tree.

Both vehicles were travelling east on Roe Highway towards Nicholson Road at the time of the crash.

The woman in her 20s died at the scene.

A man in his 40s and the five children had to be freed from the wreckage before being taken to hospital.

The man was taken by St John Ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital under priority conditions and is now in a stable condition.

Five children have been taken to Perth Children Hospital’s emergency department. All are in a stable condition.

Another man involved in the crash declined to be taken to hospital.

It is unknown whether the driver of the other vehicle, a man in his 30s, who was the sole occupant, has been injured.

Roe Highway northbound has been closed between South Street and Nicholson Road. Southbound traffic has been reduced to a single lane.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

Major Crash Detectives are investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or the Ford Focus or Ford Territory travelling in the area beforehand.
