Embattled Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has been forced to front media after her husband, Yorick Piper, had his licence suspended over a drink-driving incident on Thursday.

“Yesterday morning, just before 9am, my husband, Yorick, was driving to the supermarket in Bendigo to pick up some groceries when he was pulled over for a random breath test,” Allan said.

“As a result of this test, he blew 0.05. He has, as a result, has received an on-the-spot fine and lost his licence for three months.”

Premier Allan said she and her husband were “incredibly shocked” to learn he was over the limit, also adding that her husband was currently taking medication that may have impacted his ability to process alcohol.

“We’re embarrassed and shocked and most truly sorry for what has occurred here, because drink driving and road trauma are incredibly, incredibly serious,” she said.

“Physically, he’s okay as a result of yesterday, but yes, we’re embarrassed and shocked and most truly sorry for what has occurred here, because drink driving and road trauma are incredibly, incredibly serious.”
