Carramar: Warning downgraded as blazing bushfire controlled by fire crews
Fire crews have contained an out-of-control bushfire burning in Carramar north of Perth.
A warning has been downgraded for people in an area south of Neerabup Road, bound by Flynn Drive, Pinjar Road, Burns Beach Road and Joondalup Drive.
The fire was reported after 2.50pm on Wednesday near Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive.
Main Roads has closed Wanneroo Road north-bound.
Aerial support has been sent in to assist firefighters on the ground.
Residents in the affected area were being urged to leave but now this warning only applies for those who struggle to move quickly.
If you become stuck in your car, park away from bushes, cover yourself with a woollen blanket, get onto the floor as the windows may break from the intense heat, DFES has advised.
People who cannot leave should shelter at home in a room with running water and a clear exit for an easy escape.
A watch and act issued for residents north of Flynn Drive and south of Pederick Road in Neerabup, has been downgraded to an alert.
Conditions can change quickly so residents should continue to monitor for updates online.
