Cows are causing havoc on the South Western Highway in Byford.

Emergency services have been called to the commotion after a car hit one of the animals on Wednesday morning.

A witness said the car was completely destroyed.

“Two cars have actually hit one or maybe two of the cows, destroyed one of the cars and severely damager another Hilux, so people should keep an eye on the road because there might be more cows,” he told 6PR.

“We caught one of them (cows), the other one’s finished.”

Traffic has also been slowed on the Kwinana Freeway northbound lane just after Leach Highway in Brentwood after an accident.

Main Roads WA has warned that the right lane is blocked and traffic is heavy on the approach.
