Hundreds turned out for a tribute to missing fishermen Chad Fairley and Mason Carter at Jakes Point, Kalbarri, yesterday.

Surfers held a paddle out for the missing men, while hundreds watched from the beach.

Mr Fairley, 30, of Geraldton, Mr Carter, 26, of Kalbarri, and Murray Turner, 57, of Geraldton, were on board the prawn trawler Returner which sank off the Pilbara coast last month.

A body, believed to be that of Mr Turner, was found along with the missing vessel on July 29, in about 10 metres of water and in the same area where it was known the three men were fishing when it disappeared.

The three Mid West men were on a 10-day fishing trip aboard the 13-metre vessel which failed to return to port on July 15.
