A person has been left with critical injuries after a serious crash in the Shire of Harvey on Friday evening.

Two cars crashed on South Western Highway in Burekup just after 5pm.

Emergency services rushed to the scene with a section of the highway shut as paramedics work to help the critically injured person.

Three St John ambulance crews are on the scene.

No other injuries have been reported at this stage.

South Western Highway between Raymond Road and Wilman Wadandi Highway is shut due to the collision.

Main Roads WA urged drivers to seek an alternative route.
