A terminally ill prisoner has died in hospital.

The 76-year-old man, who was housed at Acacia Prison, died at Armadale Hospital on Friday.

“The man was first hospitalised on 2 September after being assessed by the prison’s medical staff,” the Department of Justice said.

“As is mandatory for deaths in custody, WA Police will prepare a report for the State Coroner.”
