Perth isn’t out of the woods yet, with another burst of wild weather set to lash the city after a weekend of storms across WA.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a fresh strong wind warning for Monday, with gusty conditions expected to hit large parts of the State’s coastline, including Perth.

The warning covers Perth local waters, the Lancelin coast, Perth coast, Bunbury Geographe coast, Leeuwin coast, Albany coast and Esperance coast.

It comes after powerful winds battered the South West on Friday, with a 100km per hour gust recorded at Cape Leeuwin just before 4pm.

The wet weather isn’t over either. Perth is forecast to receive between 5mm and 15mm of rain on Monday, before another 9mm to 20mm is expected to fall on Tuesday as the wintry blast continues.

BOM had already issued a marine wind warning for the Albany and Esperance coasts on Sunday before expanding the strong wind warning to include Perth and much of WA’s south-west coastline for Monday.

Sunday’s wild weather also saw Cottesloe Beach closed after a whale carcass washed ashore, prompting authorities to issue a shark advice warning for the area.
